ABOUT CLARA Clara is the leading spend management platform for businesses in Latin America. We provide corporate cards, expense management, and AP automation across Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. Our mission: give every company in Latin America complete control of their spending. Small, high-powered squads. Senior engineers. AI tools baked into how we work. The person running product for a squad doesn't just write specs — they own outcomes end to end. ABOUT THE ROLE SPEI is Mexico's primary interbank payment rail. For Clara customers, it powers everything from supplier payments to tax disbursements to payroll runs. BillPay Mexico is the product that makes this seamless — domestic and cross-border transfers, payment tracking, reconciliation, and the compliance layer that keeps everything clean with SAT, CNBV, and banking partners. This is a squad lead role reporting directly to the Global Product Director. You'll own the full BillPay product experience for the Mexican market: payment flows, bank partner integrations, disbursement reliability, and the back-office tooling that supports operations and finance. You'll work closely with engineers, design, banking infrastructure, compliance, and enterprise sales teams. This role requires physical presence in Mexico City — we're in active conversations with banking partners and regulators, and showing up in person matters. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own discovery, prioritization, and outcomes for the BillPay MX squad — understand why payment success rates move, why reconciliation breaks, and why customers churn, not just what launched Build deep understanding of SPEI infrastructure: clearing windows, return codes, CLABE validation, and failure propagation — and extend that to cross-border flows (FX rails, correspondent banking, settlement timing) Maintain and evolve banking partner relationships from a product perspective: know what integration contracts allow, where bottlenecks are, and what needs to be negotiated next Own compliance signals: SAT requirements, CNBV guidelines, and PLD/AML obligations for transfer products Define and track the metrics that matter: payment success rate, settlement time, reconciliation error rate, time-to-resolve for failed transfers, and BillPay contribution to customer retention Design and iterate on disbursement workflows — from single transfers to bulk payment runs for hundreds of suppliers Prototype with AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0) before committing engineering time Contribute straightforward code changes (copy, config, feature flags, simple UI, analytics) through engineer-reviewed PRs Work in Git daily: read PRs, understand what shipped, follow what's blocked WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Experience 5+ years in product management, with at least 2 years owning a payments, banking, or financial infrastructure product Track record of shipping products that moved business metrics — not just features that launched Hands-on experience with payment rails, banking APIs, or financial infrastructure at a product level Comfortable working with engineers as peers, not through project managers or coordinators Domain knowledge — payments Deep understanding of SPEI: clearing cycles, error handling, CLABE structure, and how to design reliable retry and fallback flows Familiarity with cross-border payment rails: FX conversion, correspondent banking, SWIFT or alternative rails, and associated compliance overhead Familiarity with Mexican banking regulations: SAT CFDIs, CNBV licensing implications, AML/PLD obligations Experience integrating with or managing bank correspondent relationships from a product side Understands how reconciliation works end to end: what breaks it, how to design around it, and how to give finance teams the visibility they need Technical fluency Can prototype a working concept using AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) Comfortable with Git: branches, commits, PRs, reading diffs Can read code well enough to follow what a PR does and ask informed questions Understands API integrations, webhooks, async payment flows, and idempotency patterns at a conceptual level Product fundamentals Strong discovery instincts — finds the real problem before designing a solution Data-literate: comfortable with SQL, funnel analysis, and experiment design Clear written communicator in both Spanish and English Strong stakeholder management across engineering, banking partners, compliance, finance, and enterprise sales Mindset High agency — defaults to action over process Treats AI tools as core workflow, not a novelty Comfortable in ambiguous regulatory environments — knows how to make progress without waiting for perfect clarity NICE TO HAVE Experience with ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Aspel, CONTPAQi) from a payments or AP perspective Familiarity with Banxico's regulatory framework and SPEI operating rules Experience with mult
